AMBUSH! Prevention and Response

AMBUSH! Prevention and Response

Focus:  Any police officer or patrol deputy.

Length: 8-hours, expandable to 16-hours with Force-on-Force exercises.

This course responds to the current threat being experienced throughout the nation:  the ambushing and murdering of our officers.  It prepares your officers in preventing an ambush before it occurs.  It provides a proven and effective response to any ambush.

There was a time, in the 1960s and '70s, that officers routinely took precautions against being ambushed--it was a part of their every day work habits.  When ambushed, if they survived the initial attack, they reacted to mitigate the effectiveness of the deadly assault and survive.  These lessons--hard won with the blood and death of many officers--have been forgotten, having fallen to the wayside because ambushes seemed to be a distant threat in the last decades.

Now the threat of ambush is back.   This trend has multiple sources.  Minimally, they are:  Jihadist threats and known intelligence on ambush planning and training by foreign and domestic terrorists; political disaffection with current government policies; a growing trend toward violence among the young fueled by violent media images; copycat violators seeking infamy.  While the source of causes are varied, the act is often very similar:  the sudden, unexpected deadly assault on one or more officers during routine patrol or response to a call for service.  Officers are murdered or grievously wounded as a result.

It is time to revisit the past for its lessons that remain timeless and relevant to the officers of the present.  It is also time to for officers of today to have a mind-set and outlook that meets the current threats while still meeting the need for community service and citizen assistance.  Learn how to prevent being the victim of an ambush.  Discover the best practical response to ambush situations that others have used to save their lives.  This course is something every officer today needs.

This course provides extensive instruction in the following areas:

  • A short history of ambushes on law enforcement.
  • Anatomy of the ambush.
  • Anti-ambush mindset.
  • Applied OODA Theory.
  • When you suspect an ambush.
