Cutting Edge Training

America’s Combatives and Liability Trainer Aut viam inveniam aut faciam

Third Party Protection

Third Party Protection

Focus:  All sworn or commissioned officers of any rank and U.S. federal agents.

  • Foreign government agents upon U.S. Dept. of State approval only

Length: 24.  Optional 16 additional hours for live-fire training.

This is the only training of its kind, developed to create a realistic program of protection for the peace officer assigned to a protective detail.  Methods of protection, control, and defense--unmatched in any training course--are thoroughly examined.

We present not only realistic strategies and tactics involving teams of one and two protective agents, but also training in the most simple to apply, advanced combatives extant.  This is NOT the Secret Service five agent protective team model--it is realistic training for the single protective agent and two-agent protective team commonly found in executive protection.

  • Regardless of the assignment, peace officers tasked with dignitary protection are governed by the U.S. Constitution, the state laws of the officer’s jurisdiction, and agency policy in any force response.  The better you understand the laws under which you operate, the more decisive your actions can be.  This is a "nuts-and-bolts" approach to understanding and instantly applying the law.
  • The majority of the protective agent's intervention duties require not physical intervention, but oral deflection and de-escalation skills.  These skills are introduced and reviewed to increase the protective agent's ability to avoid and prevent unneeded violence that may lead to criminal and legal consequences.
  • Five steps to comprehensively deal with each event or assignment are examined:  Evaluating, planning, implementing, documenting, and reviewing the actions of all involved.
  • Almost all assassins are opportunistic in their approach.  They are patient, waiting for an opening that appears likely to succeed.  It is the Protective Agent's actions, placement, and situational awareness that provides the impetus for the Threat to either hesitate or decide to "go."
  • Understanding the suicidal threat presented by the person who disregards his survival, or even plans his death to coincide with an attempt on the Principal, is of vital importance to the protective agent.  The suicidal threat is a very difficult protection problem and must be prepared for.
  • Small team movement involving one or two protective agents is a core skill of this course.  Since it is often only the President and other high government officials employing a large protective team, it is not practical to train in large team tactics.  Therefore, the protective agent must be trained in tactics and techniques that are effective in the real world protection assignment in which they will likely find themselves.
  • Because the protective agent may find him/herself involved in the physical defense of the Principal, a physical defense system emphasizing simplicity and effectiveness is vital.  This course details personal defense, Principal defense, weapon takeaway, and Universal Takedowns, as well as simple personal defense strategies the Principal should be taught as a precautionary measure.  Additional methods of physically controlling the Principal in the event of assault will be introduced.

OPTIONAL 2-DAYS OF TRAINING

While it is unusual for a protective detail to be forced to use their firearms in the U.S., the deadly force response is critical in its employment.  Protective agents must quickly hit the Threat with no chance of innocent bystanders being injured.  This optional day of training offers the most realistic scenarios and training possible with handguns.  Hitting theory with individual and team firing drills, graduating to live-fire Principal defense is the goal.
